Someone
is killing men in the sleepy town of Cross Point. The police department is bearing the brunt of these slayings, their
numbers being systematically decimated by what they have coined the “Purple Feather Murders”. Why these
particular men are being targeted is a mystery, one of the connections being their active participation in the recreation
league. Heather Highmark’s brother, Roy, and his longtime friend, Langdon Cruise, are both police officers; and
they are all worried.
Heather is clairvoyant and sometimes helps the department with their
investigations. When she sees a purple haze surrounding the victims, she catches a glimpse
of a female in the mist. Who is she? Because of her brother’s potential vulnerability, she insists on doing
some investigating on her own and is instantly warned away by the killer.
Langdon Cruise is
a gorgeous rich boy who happens to be a police officer. His charm, magnetism, and a velvety voice to seduce any woman
he desires makes his best friend’s sister suspicious, especially when he turns on all that charm and points it in her
direction.
Both Heather and Langdon are forced to work together when Roy turns up missing and is accused of the crimes. Will they
be able to put aside their acrimonious behavior long enough to find Roy before it is too late?
Billie Williams has written a tight riveting story, full of unexpected twists and turns that left
me anxiously reading every word with baited breath. The story line is believable, the plot line crisp and precise. I
enjoyed every word.
